Several weeks ago I attended a wonderful conference at the University of Maryland: Women in Astronomy and Space Science: Meeting the challenges of an increasingly diverse work force. Last week I visited Howard University, a historically black university in Washington, DC. Do I need to tread lightly when writing a blog on diversity and inclusion at MIT? I am 54 years old, a female, I’m white and I’ve worked at MIT in Cambridge for 30 years. I am afraid of saying something wrong and offending someone, somewhere. (Cambridge is pretty politically correct.)
