The Institute Community and Equity office is excited to offer a new program for leadership in departments, labs, and centers to assist in self-reflective work in addition to engagement in dialogue about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within your teams: Infinite Conversations with ICEO.
Attached you'll find a list of brief resources used to begin understanding and engaging in DEI work. These are Ted Talks, articles, or free online tools that ICEO has chosen for their effectiveness in exploring key concepts like:
- Whiteness, white fragility, and privilege
Understanding these terms and concepts will be essential in moving your team toward a more open, inclusive, and equitable environment. We'll be releasing more topics and recommended resources as our conversations progress!
How to use this guide:
- Click on a resource under a topic that you may have questions about. Watch the video or read the article.
- If you enjoyed the resource, or the topic was particularly interesting, share it with your team.
- Reach out to our office by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a discussion using your chosen resource as a framework. We will assign a member of our staff to help facilitate a discussion with 10-30 members of your DLC.
These conversations may be difficult to begin, but they will help to lay the foundation for trainings, initiatives, and practices to move us forward as an Institute community. Thank you for being part of a collaborative effort to make MIT a better place for all.
Note: This program does not constitute implicit bias training. Stay tuned for options or reach out to Beatriz Cantada (email@example.com) for more information.
