Cracking the Codes of Race in America

Cracking the Codes of Race in America

An ICEO Community Dialogue

April 23, 2018 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm

What are the personal, institutional, and societal causes and consequences of systemic racism? What can we do about it?

Please join other members of the MIT community for lunch Monday, April 23 (11:45am-1pm in room W20-407, Student Center) in this community dialogue based on the documentary film “Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity” by Shakti Butler. In supportive groups, we will view and discuss portions of the film based on our varied experiences. Using gentle and strategic questioning, we will begin to disentangle culture and identity, explore personal and interpersonal roots of racism, and strive to build skills to address the dynamics of systemic inequality. Students, faculty, postdocs, researchers, staff and friends are all welcome.
