~Please join us for lunch and the WGS Intellectual Forum ~

Thursday, February 23rd

12-1:30pm in 14E-304

Kishonna Gray (WGS/CMS MLK Scholar) will present on her current work:

Black Masculinity in Contemporary Gaming Culture

As racial projects, video games legitimize white masculinity and hegemonic ideology through the ‘othering’ process. The mediated story of   Black characters is limited and situated within buffoonery (comedy) or crime and gaming is not exempt. Media outlets have created essentialist notions about Blackness and what it means to have an ‘authentic’ Black experience.

Lunch will be served

Please RSVP to erneill@mit.edu and note dietary restrictions

Events are open to all community members. We welcome people of every identity, ability/disability, and background, and will strive to meet all needs for full participation.
